During the use of the gangway, it will cause different degrees of damage due to some reasons. The main reasons for the damage are as follows:

1. Poor anchorage and connection

This has happened in all types of gangways. The gangway has abnormal phenomena such as looseness, off-position and falling off into the sea. The main reason for this phenomenon is that the technical condition of bolts or iron chains for anchoring fenders is not good, or maintenance is not up to date. Metal materials such as anchor bolts and iron chains for fixing fenders corrode quickly in the marine environment and are not easy to replace, resulting in poor fixing of the gangway, which seriously affects the normal use of fenders.

2. Overloading of ships

This kind of damage often occurs in gangways, especially some old gangways, which often crack at the weak points of the structure. The cracks are generally in the length direction of the gangway.

3. Friction

This situation generally occurs in fixed V and D type fenders. The fender is mainly damaged by angle drop, crack, surface scratch, etc. The main reason for this damage is the friction between the gangway and the ship.
